Community
Our customers mean the world to us. It's the support of our loyal customers and the community that has allowed us to grow (and blossom) over the years. We put our customers and our community at the heart of everything we do and like to give where we live.
We believe in eating quality food and living an active lifestyle. We're all involved in sports and contribute to the sporting community by coaching and providing sponsorship.
We also feel passionate about educating our customers about our farm and the farming process.
Putting those passions in action, here are some of our community involvements:
- Giving group tours of our farm.
- Visiting schools and daycares to provide guidance on growing veggies to little farmers in the making.
- Hosting Pumpkinfest in October which raises funds for the R.E.A.L. Program and the Mount Pearl Sports Alliance.
- Volunteering with a variety of agricultural organization:
- Mary is currently on the executive of the NL Horticulture Producers Council and is on the Agriculture in the Classroom committee. For more than 27 years, Mary was on the executive of the Canadian 4-H Council. As a result of her countless hours of volunteering and immeasurable impact on agriculture in Newfoundland and in Canada, Mary was named to the Atlantic Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2016 she also received an award for her outstanding contribution to the agriculture industry in the province.
- John, Chris and Brad are active members of the NL Federation of Agriculture and NL Horticulture Producers Council.
- Susan is on the executive of the Newfoundland and Labrador Young Farmers Forum and a mentor with the Little Green Thumbs program.
- Providing donations to a variety of community events:
- To request a donation, come see us at our market. Each request will be reviewed by our relations committee and evaluated on if it is a good fit for us, is value-adding, engages our community, promotes health, wellbeing, and active living and is not conflicting with existing partnerships. Each applicant will be notified either way.
